As you may know, I am really big on the DIY movement - I get consumed by my projects, roll up my sleeves and jump right in to design and create everything myself. I love to create, paint + think outside the box. So, when Ruby + Kimmy, the boss babes of LemonLife Social, contacted me about designing their Blogger Bazar event, I was ecstatic. They gave me free reign to design a backdrop for their huge debut celebration.  200+ bloggers in attendance, 50+ sponsors providing incredible products and 20+ vendors sharing their amazing wares; and it would all be at Sandbox Venue, my favorite industrial warehouse event space in San Diego. Although I knew it would be a herculean undertaking, I live for this type of project and for getting my hands dirty.

Once I learned what the ladies had envisioned for their first big event, I created a mood board of my ideas and began to put it all together. I chose a summer coastal chic vibe to capture the zest of their lemon-focused brand and to encapsulate the warm San Diego summer days. My first idea was to bring fresh lemons and scatter them around the venue for a Positano vibe. I knew I wanted the backdrop to be modern, bold and two-toned. I chose a peach, terracotta color for one side and a bold white color for the other. With the color palette selected, I got to work painting the plywood boards I picked up from Home Depot. I knew I wanted the "LemonLife Social" name to be front and center so I asked my friends Bloom and Adore to design a white and copper backdrop in their beautiful calligraphy.  Side note - if you ever need calligraphy and/or amazing wood work made, Bloom and Adore should be your go to! I also called on Marquee SD to light up the room with their fantastic (and huge!) marquee lights to complete the whole set design. I loved it!

For the bar area, everyone knows that it has to be inviting but with a sense of edge. Witty Rentals provided a white bar that was so cute I wanted to take it home with me after the event.  Snake Oil Cocktails did what they do best, making the most scrumptious beverages. Behind them I placed a lush green hedge provided by Creations by Milka that I adorned with lemons on with lettering from Paperview Company.

Check out the photos taken by Tayler Ashley Photography and let me know what you think. For this being my first 12' x 8' backdrop, I think LSE really pulled it off, but you also didn't see the crazy behind the scenes of putting it together and making it all happen, haha! In the end, every guest had fun and LemonLife Social were happy LSE customers and partners.
