This past weekend, I had the pleasure of helping coordinate one of the most fun and hotly anticipated 40th Birthday bashes in Mill Valley. When Karleen and Kathleen, Bay Area's number one party planners, called upon me to help with "day of" coordination, there was no way that I would miss out on this 70's theme party that I knew would make Elizabeth Taylor and Bianca Jagger proud. These ladies captured the essence of "Studio 54" and the party was truly a testament as to why theme parties will always be a favorite.
Every guest came dressed in their 70's attire. Sequined dresses that would make a disco ball jealous and bell bottoms paired with fish-tank platforms made everyone feel like, just maybe, Mick Jagger and Farrah Fawcett were just moments away from walking down the red carpet to join the rest of the celebrants. Cocktail hour was punctuated with polaroids of the birthday boys photoshopped onto the faces of famous 70's celebrities (we're looking at you, Andy Warhol!) and the dinner was expertly prepared by Chef Cory - an up and coming Bay Area culinary whiz kid. After dinner, the evening gave way to a night of dancing and celebration as Blondie and Donna Summer kept the party goers on the dance floor.
It was such a pleasure working with really fun party planners to help them re-create "Studio 54" so beautifully; no detail was missed.
